I am not very clear about my idea but I have a little outline of it in my mind. My idea is about providing the enrollment forms of different schools online. It will become easy for the parents as well as the schools. It will profit the school, the parents and us also.

It can be achieved as we can make a contact with different schools and tell them about our program and if they are interested they can provide us their forms and details. As far as the parents are concerned, they will find it easy to fill the forms online and escape from standing in long queues.

We can put on our website the details and features of different schools and the parents can choose the school they find best for their child. We will also put the fees structure so that parents find it easy to choose appropriate school according to their budget. The faculties, infrastructures, services of buses, cabs etc. would be there on the site and will help the parents.

The schools will also be promoted from this website and we can charge money from the schools and it will also become very easy for the parents to choose a good school.

One of the most important things I learnt was that entrepreneurs need to alter their ways of thinking, they need to think out of the box. Do not look for the easy way out because that’s what most people look at, rather look at different ways of doing things, for that increases your chances of success by a great margin. Search for the unobvious, look at ways that haven’t been previously looked at.
DO NOT FOLLOW. LEAD!
‘ If a story has come in Economic Times, it cannot be used again’
The path to success for an entrepreneur lies in how he uses his thinking and skill sets to come up with ideas that haven’t been previously looked at.

We were told that when thinking of a business idea, we should think about 10 years into the future, we should think of the demands and needs of the future rather than looking at the present ones, for that is a vital key for the sustainance of a bussiness.

Business ideas lie in solving the problems faced by people. The bigger the solution to the problem, the more successful you can become.
This is visible in many successful businesses-
* People didn’t like the idea of going to the market in scorching heat or chilling winters to buy stuff they needed. Flipkart, Snapdeal, myntra etc. Solved this problem for them.
* Looking for numbers of hospitals, restaurants in the directory was tiring.
Just dial solved this problem for us.
* How to stay connected with my friends from school and college and share pictures?
There came Facebook and Instagram.
* Chatting is okay. But I also want to be able to see the person’s face when he sends me a message.
There came Snapchat.

You also need to be able to grab attention from people without wasting a lot of money on marketing.
Companies like google( gmail) and one plus( one plus one) gained attention in the market simply by making their product exclusive, invite only.
You could only make a gmail account or get a one plus one if you had an invite ( which could be got from various online conpetitions etc.) And if you had an invite, you could further send it to a few people, but it had to be used in a given time for it would expire otherwise. This made people thing that the product or service was ‘special or exclusive’ and hence, more people started wanting it. And that’s how these companies were able to successfully establish a brand name for themselves.

Innovation need to be continuous for that is very important for the sustainance of a business. You need to keep up with the latest trends and make changes in your business model if required for otherwise other people would surpass you and you would be left behind.

And last but not the least, you need to be having continuous Inspiration, Aspiration and perspiration!

So, day one,

This day was totally worth the excitement that I had since the time I had registered, totally worth waking up early on Sundays…

So first up my most important learning of the day:

NOTHING IS PERMANENT!

Apparently this was one thing i never thought could be changed but just a simple exercise made me change my mind..

So further into the class I came to know about the SWOT analysis that is

  • S- Strength
  • W- Weakness
  • O- Opportunity
  • T- Threats

Next I learnt about the 6 P’s of Entrepreneurship that are product, price, promotion, place, people, positioning..

Then comes an Out Of The Box Thinking..

The customer isn’t interested or fascinated by something that already exists so think of something totally different!

I learnt to search for the “unobvious”

Also to be an entrepreneur one needs to be persevere and resilient cuz you are going to fail without fail. Yea, FAIL, time n again before you finally succeed.

Then comes hard work which is an absolute must!

One needs to be confident cuz confidence is key when pitching to investors, telling them about your product with utter passion.

The three unmovable things in a company are the IDEALOGY, the PURPOSEand the VALUES.

A number of acronyms contain such huge meanings that can guide us through the never ending journey of being an entrepreneur one such being PREP:

  • P- Point
  • R- Reasoning
  • E- Examples
  • P- Point (repeat)

In the first  session off TYE, where I  got opportunity to meet Mr Satya Narayan, the  founder of Career Launcher and also learnt the first but important lesson for the Entrepreneur ship.

  1. Out of Box Thinking : The start of any entrepreneur venture is through  Out of Box thinking. Any idea which is new, unique and  can make life more convenient has got the maximum  chances of success.
  2. Risk taking & mitigating abilities : Any new  venture is  full of risks at all stages in the initial 2-3 years. Many business fails   because the   entrepreneur lacks in finding mitigation for the risks faced by them. The entrepreneur should  have an open mind and should strategize his operations in such a way that he should have plan B available in case  of plan A failure  Success shall come subsequently.
  3. Entrepreneur should evolve continuously  and should try to find all the ways and means to attain his goals. The entrepreneurship does not  have a fixed  path. Each entrepreneur faces & tackles problems in different ways.
  4. Entrepreneur should not lose patience and be afraid of failure. Failure is the first step to success as it gives first hand experience of different scenarios.
  5. Entrepreneurship is all about innovation and its successful execution.
  6. Entrepreneurship does not have any age. It is a way of  life and not just an ability to manage a company.

The concept of entrepreneurship has a wide range of meanings. Entrepreneur is a person with very high aptitude. Anyone who wants to work for himself or herself is considered to be an entrepreneur.

From the learning of first session, I learnt that an entrepreneur is a person who organizes, manages and assumes the risk of any business. An entrepreneur combines various input factors in an innovative manner to generate value to customer with a HOPE !

Innovation gives business the competitive advantage that results in wealth creation. Entrepreneurs do not wait for conditions to be perfect to act on a new idea. They solve obstacles as they arise. They persevere in their effort to overcome problems and setbacks and eventually WIN.

Entrepreneurs are action oriented and translate good ideas to actions.

An entrepreneur should have an understanding of –

  • Self
  • Market
  • Product or service

Entrepreneurship placed an emphasis on innovation, such as –

  • New products
  • New production methods
  • New markets
  • New forms of organization

I learnt that we should always keep an open mind and continue to assess everything we read and hear from an entrepreneurial point of view.

DREAM – THINK – PLAN, and we will be ready to transform that business idea into the business we have always wanted.

As my journey to successful entrepreneurship begins I have already started to realize that it’s not an easy task. But as they say “Nothing extraordinary comes out of anything ordinary.” We started with a simple task requiring a logical mind. And honestly I couldn’t even complete the first one. It seemed pretty easy before starting but alas nothing as easy as it seems.

Anyways I moved forward and realized it actually was pretty easy. It just required a bit of thinking and concentration. So my first learning was that perseverance, resilience and smart work are very important in the life of any successful entrepreneur.

Thereafter I was introduced to C.K. Prahalad who wrote “The Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid”. He introduced the term core competency. Core competency is defined as a harmonized combination of multiple resources and skills that distinguish a firm in the market. The most successful companies are those which identify their core competencies and deliver the best to the customers.

So I learned that core competency should be one of the most important targets that a company should develop in itself so as to soar to unknown levels.

Afterwards, we moved forward to the thinking process of an entrepreneur. How he/she achieves such feats and changes the world. The most successful entrepreneurs are those who don’t compete. They completely eliminate the competition. They do so by not thinking better than everyone but by thinking what no one else can.

Thus was my third learning that the highest achieving entrepreneurs don’t pursue the best idea. They pursue the next idea and revolutionize the world.

Hence, my journey to success begins with absolute dedication and a spirit to learn.

Wish me luck!

Approaching RBI Exam

Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Grade B examination is not only one of the most prestigious but also one of the most sought after exams of the banking industry. Successful attempt at the exam not only gets you a managerial job in the central bank of the world’s fastest growing economy but also brings with it an annual CTC of Rs. 11-12 lakhs which is expected to increase by 20-30% with the recent pay settlement. Association with RBI is not only a bankers dream but is also the dream job of many from the IIMs who give up on their corporate offices in lieu of an association with the banker of the banks. As the phase 1 exam is round the corner , it is important to take you through the changed exam pattern before many of you sit down to test your fate, this Saturday and Sunday. For the ones, planning to attempt it in 2016, this shall serve as your user manual.

RBI EXAM PATTERN

The pattern of the exam as per the new notification is as follows:

  1. The exam will be conducted in two phases 1 and 2 and both will be online based. Candidates have to score minimum qualifying marks in each section as well as aggregate. Such candidates will be called for Phase 2 of the selection process. Final selection will be done on the performance in Phase 2 of written exam and personal interview.
  2. Phase-I exam will be an MCQ type objective paper which will test the candidate in four modules: General Awareness, English language, Quantitative aptitude and Reasoning.
  3. Phase -II will also be an online exam with three papers.
  • Paper I will test the English writing skills and hence WILL NOT BE OBJECTIVE.
  • Paper II will be on economic and social issues and WILL BE AN OBJECTIVE TYPE PAPER.
  • Paper III can be given in any of the 3 subjects: Finance and Management / Economics/Statistics. This too WILL BE AN OBJECTIVE TYPE PAPER.
  1. All the papers will be conducted
  2. Score of the second exam only will be considered while shortlisting candidates for interview.
  3. The final merit list will be prepared by adding the scores of all the three papers of Phase-II and the interview.

DURATION AND MARKS DISTRIBUTION

  1. Phase -I will last for two hours and will be of 200 marks.
  2. Phase -II has 3 exams and a composite total of 300 marks, wherein each exam will be of 1.5 hours weighing 100 marks each.
  3. The interview will be of 50 marks and will continue in its existing format.

CHANGES IN THE PATTERN AND THEIR IMPACT

  1. Educational Qualification : A minimum of 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PWD) or equivalent in graduation, 10th and 12th
  2. Changes in descriptive test pattern : The Phase-II test will consist of three papers out of which two will be compulsory and one optional (as mentioned above). All the papers including descriptive (English) will be conducted online. Thus, doing away with the practice of manual checking and expediting the whole process.
  3. Number of attempts increased : The maximum number of attempts have been increased from 4 to 6 for the general category.
  4. Duration of exam decreased : As per the new scheme the duration of Phase -I has been decreased from 2hrs. 10 mins to 2 hours. And that of Phase-2 from 3 hours each exam to 1.5 hours each exam. So, phase 2 which used to get completed in 1.5 days earlier can now be done away with in a day’s time, in turn reducing the psychological burden.
  5. Announcement of dates – The biggest change in the RBI’s pattern this year was the announcement of the dates for both Phase I and II exams, simultaneously. Earlier, Phase II dates were announced only after the declaration of the results of Phase I exam. What this means for you is that you can plan the entire study schedule at once as per the needs of both the phases.
  6. Time between Phase I and II decreased – The next big thing is the time between the two phases has been decreased. Earlier, there used to be roughly 30-45 days between the two phases but from this year onwards this has been reduced to 15 days. This implies that you cannot study in succession; the syllabus has to be dealt with in combination now.
  7. List of books : In the notification not only is the syllabus given in a more comprehensive manner but also has a list of recommended books and newspapers that you can refer to during the course of your preparation.

Another important aspect of this exam is the extensive syllabus in the General Awareness exam which is different from other competitive exams. So, when RBI tests your General knowledge, its more in context with the banking industry and economic schemes and policies rather than the generic current affairs, which are also present but in a miniscule share.

  1. The thing to be highlighted is that the grade B phase I exam has 200 questions out of which 80 will test your general awareness. Now, in these 80 questions also, the maximum share will be of the questions that will be based on RBI’s facts and latest developments in context of its policies and schemes.
  2. Second share will be of the questions which will test your banking terminology like: Basic facts related to NEFT and RTGS, the latest changes in their limits and so on. There can even be definition based questions like: What is a scheduled commercial bank? Or current topics like: Payment Banks conditions of eligibility etc.

Example :

  • You will be given a term and 4 definitions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • You will be given an organizations name and will have to choose the functions. This can also come in match the following format.
  • Name of a person would be given and you will have to mark the organization for which he/she works or vice-versa.
  • Name of a government policy or scheme will be given and you will be asked to mark the correct feature from the options.
  1. There will be questions related to the latest economic developments around the world and are being covered extensively in the news to test your international presence.
  2. The last and the least share is of the generic ones like: Who won the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna? Or, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize?

Once you get through this exam and get to be a part of India’s central bank, a 3-4 year dedicated service can even open the gates for international institutions like IMF and World Bank. So, for all those planning to appear for the exam in 2016, this is the time when you should actually fasten your seat belts and start preparing with all your might, and for the ones who have been preparing for this from quite some time and are ready to take the exam, give it your best shot for a glorious future that awaits you.

Good Luck!
