A Bidding War Now for DU’s Online Entrance 2018?

0
DU entrance exam 2018

  • Delhi University invites bids to conduct its online entrance exams.
  • The bidding is for few select undergraduate programs and for all its PG, M.Phil., and Ph.D. programs.

Delhi University has invited private players to bid for conducting an online entrance exam for the academic year 2018–19 for its select undergraduate programs, and all its PG, M. Phil., and Ph.D. Programs.

It can be recalled that last year DU had planned to conduct an online entrance test for some of its programs (like M.Phil., Ph.D., and PG). However, it was forced to shelve the idea after criticism from various circles. This year too, there were rumours of an entrance test for admission to the University’s UG programs. But that idea too was abandoned last month citing insufficient time and preparations.

According to media sources*, the computer-based entrance exam for which bids have been invited will be an objective-type paper of two-hour duration, to be conducted in three shifts. The medium of the exam will be English, Hindi, or both. However, DU officials could not be reached for comments.

What is important to understand is that with this move Delhi University will inch a step closer towards making their dream of conducting entrance test for undergraduate exams reality. If the proposal is accepted, they will surely find it easier to conduct a computer-based entrance exam next year for the majority of its courses.

However, it will not be an easy task. The University’s Student Wing has already expressed their displeasure about the online exam, and want an offline paper to be arranged too.

So, will DU be able to pull off the idea this time around, or will this one too be shoved aside? That, only time will tell.

For those of you, who are planning to write the undergraduate entrance test for BMS/BFIA and BBE (DU JAT), we are offering access to free mock tests via our 24*7 e-learning portal called Student Information System (SIS).

How to Choose the Right Career

9
choose the right career

‘Which career is the right one for me?’ If you find yourself asking this question, you are at a point of making one of the first important decisions in your life. There are too many aspects to consider while choosing the right career. Add to this the fact that everyone around you, including that neighbour you just can’t help avoid, has an opinion on the matter doesn’t help.

It was Confucius, the ancient Chinese philosopher, who first said, ‘’Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” To the undecided one, this may seem easier said than done. It is, however, essential to the decision you make.

In this blog, we’ll take you through a step-by-step approach to choose the career that is most suitable for you.

1. Know yourself: Identify your skills, interests, and personality

The first step to choosing the right career is being fully aware of your skills, interests, and personality. There are several websites that offer ‘career tests’ to help achieve the same. Some of them may vary in quality, but please, for your own sake, do not fall for those which come up with stereotypical results. For instance, ESTP personality types make good computer technicians. No, not necessarily, they don’t!

You need a test that offers a comprehensive psychometric assessment. Here are a few characteristics of such a test:

  • It identifies your unique personality profile using intricate questions designed by psychologists
  • It is based on extensive research with a large number people who are in those careers
  • It uses introspective global models, such as Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
  • It matches your individual personality to relevant careers
  • It accounts for job requirements and demands
  • It is statistically proven to be valid and robust

As part of our career counselling programs, we at Career Launcher have developed a psychometric assessment that takes into account all of these factors; and have resulted in many people finding their suitable careers over the past two decades.

2. Explore your options and choose the right career

Your in-depth psychometric assessment report should include a list of select few careers that are most suitable for you. Along with this, you should get answers to the essential “what, where, when, why, and how” questions related to your career choice. It is important at this stage to study your options in and out, match them with your goals, and seek guidance from experts.

In order for you to grasp a thorough understanding of your decision, we help you evaluate your detailed psychometric assessment report, explore your options, choose a career, and have a robust career action plan.

3. Develop a Career Action Plan

A career action plan is a roadmap to your future. It is a definitive outline on how to achieve your career goals. Once you’ve decided on your career choice, the final step is to list out all your goals – professional and personal, short and long-term – and chart out an action plan on how to achieve them.

If choosing a career is about where to go, having a career action plan is all about how to reach there. This includes selecting the best colleges, and how to apply and prepare for them. It includes knowing which colleges are better than others in all respects (such as education, exposure, placements, etc.), when they have their entrances, what they seek in a candidate, and more.

We help with this by sharing insights into the best colleges, more than 350+ entrance exams, 100+ of scholarships and competitions, and all you need to know about how to achieve your career goals.

In order to ensure that all your doubts and queries are satisfactorily addressed, we don’t simply hold a single counselling meet and share a ‘suitable’ career choice. Our career counselling programs are specifically designed to help you every step of the way and provide guidance for up to 6 months, and beyond, if you’d like it!

What’s more?

All our Career Counselling programs are now completely free to access for the first 48 hours after registration.

Clearing NEET has become mandatory to pursue MBBS abroad

1
NEET has become mandatory

Eying for a degree in MBBS from Foreign University? You have to appear for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) exam from now on.

Yes! NEET Exam, as is well-known, had already been made mandatory to study medicine in any government or private medical colleges in India. Furthermore, the Central government has now made NEET exam mandatory for even those students who aspire to study medicine in Foreign University. The move aims to make sure that only good quality students study medicine in foreign universities.

Previously, medical graduates gaining degrees from foreign institutes had to take Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) conducted by the Medical Council of India (MCI) before registering to practice as doctors in the country. However, the passing percentage has been abysmally poor. Only 10-15 percent of the students are able to clear the MCI licentiate exam every year which says a lot about the quality of students and standard of medical education they receive in other countries.

Currently, any student who has passes class 12th from any board with 50% marks only, needs to procure an Eligibility Certificate-EC from MCI to move offshore to become a doctor. There is no point for Indian students to go abroad for a five and a half-year course that costs a lot of money if they are not able to practice medicine upon their return.

The main concern is about the quality of students who can easily get a degree in medicine from abroad and the poor quality of education being imparted in the institutions they enroll in.By making NEET mandatory, it will streamline the foreign medical examination and raise the dismal pass percentage of students at FMGE examination; at least one of these main issues can be addressed.

In case the aspirants fail to clear the NEET exam, they shall not be given the ‘No objection’ certificate for studying in foreign universities. In case the medical aspirants fail to get the no-objection certificate they won’t be able to practice in India.

The implicit objective of making NEET Examination mandatory will make the entry-level qualification for medical education equal for all candidates.
