A common recruitment exam SSC Stenographer Exam is conducted for these posts.

Exam Overview: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts recruitment exam for the post of Stenographers Grade ‘C’ and Grade ‘D’. The eligibility criteria is:

  • The applicant must have passed class XII or equivalent from a recognized a state or central recognized institute.
  • The candidate must be 18-27 years.

The selection is based on the performance in the objective exam followed by a skill test. The three sections of the paper are:

  • Reasoning (Both verbal and non verbal)

  • General Intelligence & General Awareness
  • Comprehension

Job Profile: Though there is a common written examination for both Grade-C & D but there is a huge difference in pay scale. The pay scale for Stenographer Grade-C is in the range of Rs. 9300-34800/- with grade pay Rs. 4200/- while that of Grade D is in range of Rs.5200-20200/- with grade pay Rs. 2400/-. (Data as per sixth pay commission)
