From November 1, the online application process for National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) has begun. The National Testing Agency (NTA), which is responsible for conducting NEET, has put up the notification for the application process on the website, as well as in leading newspapers.
The exam is scheduled on May 5, 2019; and will be conducted in a pen-and-paper format. Students can download the admit card from the NTA website in April. The results are most likely to be declared by June 5.

Candidates can apply for NEET (UG)2019 through online mode only. The online application form can be accessed from the NTA website www.nta.ac.in, or from www.ntaneet.nic.in.
Steps for filling the online application form
- Provide all the information asked for: Personal details, academic details, address details, choice of exam center and medium of examination. Do jot down the application no. for future reference.
- Upload scanned images of the candidate’s photograph (10–200 kB), and his/her signature
(4–30 kB) in JPEG format. - Pay the fees using a suitable mode of payment through bank. For General candidates, the amount to be paid is ₹1,400, while that for SC/ST/Physically handicapped candidates is
₹ - Take at least four printouts of the Confirmation page, once the payment is successful.
Documents required for filling the form
The documents required are as follows:
- Class X marks-sheet
- Class XII marks-sheet
- Scanned copy of passport-size photograph of the candidate
- Scanned copy of candidate’s signature
- Valid ID proof (such as Aadhaar Card or Voter ID)
Note: As per the recent court ruling, Aadhaar card is not mandatory for filling the form.
Eligibility
Candidates in the 17 to 25 years age group are eligible to apply. They should have passed Class XII, or should be appearing for the Class XII exam. A score of at least 50 percent in the exam is mandatory. For reserved category students, the required score is 40%.
Exam Pattern
NEET will be conducted in offline format only. The paper will have multiple-choice questions. For every correct answer, 4 marks will be awarded;while for every incorrect answer, 1 mark will be deducted from the total score. The total number of questions in the paper is 180;with 45 questions each being asked from Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology.
