Alll India Single Engineering Entrance Exam from 2018-2019

Great news for engineering aspirants! Now, there will be a single Engineering Entrance exam.

Just like NEET- National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for admission of students to various Medical and Dental colleges, the Union HRD Ministry is doing away with multiple tests conducted by central agencies and has approved a ‘single’ All India Entrance examination from the academic year 2018-2019 for admission to under graduate Engineering and Architecture courses. Hope that you are aware of the NEET 2017 Notification. The coveted IITs, for which a nationwide competitive examination is held, may also be brought in under the ambit of the new test. However, students seeking admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) will have to clear the JEE Advanced after taking the single engineering entrance exam. The AICTE- All India Council of Technical Education is asked to frame rules for this test.

Read the relevant information about newly announced All India single Engineering Entrance Exam:

The entrance test will be named as NEEEA- (National Entrance Examination for Engineering and Architecture). The proposal is in accordance with the policy of the government to improve standards and quality of engineering education across the country.

AICTE is advised to issue suitable rules and regulations for the implementation of Single Engineering Entrance exam from 2018-19. This test will replace JEE (Main) and all existing tests, including the test for B.Tech. in government and private colleges.

The council has been asked to ensure that the test is conducted multiple times a year as it is the case with college entrance tests like SAT in the US. Once implemented fully, NEEEA will be taken by nearly 25 lakh students every year. Moreover, it shall be conducted in more than 10 languages.

At present, the IITs consider the CBSE- conducted JEE Main as a filter and themselves hold JEE Advanced for the final selections. They may continue with the separate test under the new arrangement.

The National Testing Agency is a new body announced in Union Budget 2017 that the Center has decided to set up which could conduct the NEEEA.
